Hoisery (excluding tights because that's a whole post on its own)

How dull, a post about socks...except i adore socks, i could write a whole essay on what socks to own, how to wear them, their functionality, oh stop me now.
So this post will be in the same vein as my bodysuits post, located here, where i intend to outline the 4 categories my collection of (non tights) hoisery falls into and why i love em.

Frilly Ankle Socks. I'm a big girl at heart and i love how darling frills look peeking out of less than feminine shoes. I suppose i've never gotten over the trauma of years of having my male sibling steal and stretch out every pair of socks i owned so i still continue to purchase overly cutesy socks. Being a cheapskate i buy all my white frilly socks, in a pack of 3 for £5, from Asda, and then proceed to dye them a multitude of pastel colours.

Over The Knee Socks. Plain, coloured, patterned I own them. They appeal to my crazy layering lady tendencies and i'm forever throwing a thick pair over all sorts of sheer tights for that extra warmth (the added bonus being the extra layer making this Lamb's thighs look smaller). I also hoard lighter pairs to make that transition from "my legs haven't seen the light of day for 8 months and are in a sorry state" to "it's mildly warm and i'll be damned if i'm not going to have my legs out every single day" much smoother.

Thigh High Tube Socks. The most useful socks to ever cross my path. I throw these on when i'm feeling too lazy to get dressed. I even throw these on with my sleepwear and a coat to pop to the shop. They're warm, comfy and modest and they're definitely a staple item in my wardrobe. These particular socks are from American Apparel and although advertised as "thigh high" they are in fact bum high (for a Lamb of average height with average length legs). To wear these, without them covering half my bum too, i have to put them on inside out and fold the tops down. So although i adore the thick knit these are made of i wouldn't recommend buying your thigh high tube socks from American Apparel.

Thigh High Stockings. I'm a poor little lamb who is allergic to tights. Half way through the day i'll succumb to wool itch (which is certainly not specific just to wool tights, but it's the only name i know for it), a sensation so uncomfortable i'll spend hours shifting on my seat to try to give my poor bum and upper thighs some respite. Now it doesn't stop me wearing tights but when it's not sub zero outside i'll opt for stockings instead. I've received a lot of hate for this choice of mine but i'm not going to let that stop me, i love stockings, especially those that have that sexy edge. Lace tops or a black stitch up the back, i have them in droves. There is no end to the positive attributions of thigh high stockings (but making every Lamb's legs look phenomenal is a major one!). These particular stockings are from Ann Summers and were a lovely gift from my Ram.
