I don't often consider Matalan as an option when i'm shopping around for, well, anything but every time i pop into my hometown store i end up picking up some amazing things. This time around, during my weekend escape to my family home, i picked up some serious bargains, the most noteworthy being two perfectly practical and gorgeous bras for a mere £5.
Both bras are a 32A and came as a duo, reduced from £10 to £5. So that's £2.50 a bra, hardly a bargain i could pass up. Obviously these are from the autumn/winter line so they're very seasonal but i love the warmth of the colours.
The bras aren't a perfect fit, being slightly too small (i can hear all the bra fitting experts wincing in despair, i never learn) but are comfortable and make me feel all smug because my chest is bigger than i thought! For the price, i'm very happy with the quality and fit, you honestly get more than you pay for.
Matalan is seriously underrated and while perusing their website i found so many wonderful lingerie pieces that i thought i'd share and hopefully spread the highstreet love to other Brits.
This gorgeous floral lacy bra and knicker set will set you back £11 the flirty babydoll with the swallow print only £10 (I absolutely abhor the colour purple but the babydoll is so cute i couldn't not include it). Watch this space as when i can afford a few more guilty purchases this floral set will definitely be joining my collection.
All these bras, including those made for bigger cup and back sizes cost between £7 and £8, the knickers all £5.
It's nice that a store that doesn't specialise in lingerie, nor make the majority of their profit from lingerie sales, creates a range of bras constructed specifically for those with a larger chest. Unfortunately they don't produce small back sizes in any of their bras but considering even established lingerie stores (Ann Summers i'm looking at you) haven't expanded their range for these sizes, i'd say Matalan is doing pretty well.
I was beyond impressed when i discovered that they produced a range of lovely Post Operation bras, which don't break the bank at £8. The only other high street store, i have come across, that provides this option, to it's customers, is M&S.
I also love the shapewear, available in a variety of shapes, for a variety of functions and at affordable prices. This piece (with a cutout so you can wear your own bra and make sure you're properly fitted on top) retails at £10.
All of these garments can be found on the Matalan website.
