If you hadn't already heard 2013 is the 100th anniversary of the Bra. The first modern brassiere was invented by New York socialite Mary Phelps Jacobs who fashioned one from a pair of silk handkerchiefs and a length of pink ribbon to have something suitable to wear under her sheer evening gown! However although Bras have been widely available since the 1930s, UK retailer Bravissimo have found that, in a survey of over 1000 UK women, 4 out of 5 of those women were wearing the wrong bra size. That's over 800 women! It was also found that women with larger breasts were more likely to be wearing the wrong bra size!
Bravissimo specialise in larger cup sizes, starting from a 28D and going up to an L cup, so it's no surprise that the results from their survey have inspired them to take action! This week they have announced their Boob School (hint: the faux pas may be behind this link) where they intend to teach women about the 7 Faux Pas of ill-fitting bras in order to encourage women to think about the bra size they are wearing and hopefully get them into the right size!
To celebrate the launch of Boob School, Bravissimo is giving Oflambsandlace readers the chance to win an in store fitting as well as a lingerie set (bra and knickers) from their spring collection.
The giveaway will run from the time of this post until midnight on Wednesday 13 March. If you're the lucky winner then Bravissimo will be in touch to arrange your fitting and you'll be able to walk away on the day with a lingerie set in your perfect size!
Terms and Conditions
- To claim your lingerie set, you must attend the in store fitting therefore this is only open to those who can attend a UK store.
- Fittings must take place before 31st March 2013.
- The winners choice of lingerie is subject to availability and an alternative may have to be provided.
- Bravissimo's lingerie starts at a 28D so ladies if you're like me and have a smaller chest you can still enter and get a fitting but unless you fit into Bravissimo's stock you won't be able to claim the lingerie.
